On the windows 10 machine I allow the default (PhotoGallery) to import all camera images and can then import from the library any that I want to use in Movie Maker.
On the Windows 7 machine I simply auto import all images into a folder set for the purpose and can then import from there into Movie Maker any that I want. Windows 10 does run Movie Maker quite happily it just isn't pre-installed.
I use version 2012 on both my main pc which runs windows 7 pro and my laptop which is running windows 10.
